January is Palermo at its most authentic: clear light, liveable streets, museums without queues. Here, travelling becomes easy if you give up your car: from the Liberty Palace, in the heart of the historic centre, you step outside and everything is within walking distance. And when you want a change of scenery – golden mosaics in Monreale, honey-coloured roofs in Cefalù, Baroque villas in Bagheria – we can organise dedicated transfers or recommend scenic trains, with up-to-date timetables and convenient returns. No parking, no restricted traffic zones: just time well spent.
What does the ‘No-Car January’ package include?
Day 1 — Palermo on foot, at the right pace
Morning. From the Liberty Palace, take Via Maqueda: the Quattro Canti opens the scene, the Cathedral is a short walk away. Winter offers ideal light for interiors: choose a Serpotta oratory (white stucco, fine details) or a noble palace.
Lunch. Conscious street food: freshly fried food, few ingredients, places selected on our map.
Afternoon. Piazza Pretoria, churches of the Kalsa, quiet courtyards; if it rains, museums are your warm bubble.
Evening. Aperitif and, if you like, a visit to the Teatro Massimo: walk back through the winter lights.
Day 2 — Your day trip (transfer or train, your choice)
Choose your destination: we will send you clear timetables and costs and organise the rest.
Option A — Monreale (3–4 hours)
Cathedral, cloister and terraces overlooking the Conca d'Oro. The return transfer drops you off a few metres from the entrance and arranges your return. We recommend leaving at 8:45 to enjoy the best light and returning at 13:00 for lunch in the centre.
Option B — Cefalù (8 hours)
Seafront, cathedral, medieval alleys; in mild weather, walk on the beach. Coastal train (panoramic) or private transfer (customised stops and timetable). Departure at 8:30 a.m., return at 5:30 p.m.
Option C — Bagheria and the villas (4–6 hours)
Villa Palagonia and historic residences with arches and frescoed halls; sweet break at a pastry shop. Transfer recommended for easy travel between stops. Morning 9:00–13:00 or afternoon 14:30–18:30.
Would you like to include two micro-stops on the same day (e.g. Monreale + palaces in the city centre)? We will plan it for you, without wasting any time.
